Join a union

Join a union for protection and security at work.

Unions work hard to protect you from unfair treatment in the workplace and improve your job security.

“The best thing you can do to protect you and your family is to become a union member,” Sharan Burrow, ACTU President.

Unions provide expert advice on:
  • Wages
  • Hours of work
  • Working conditions
  • Health and safety issues
  • Workers’ compensation
  • Superannuation
  • Training and education

Unions also offer a range of membership benefits -  such as cheap home loans and discounted consumer goods.

The Your Rights at Work community campaign is about deciding what sort of Australia we want for our children. If you are not eligible for union membership because you are retired, own your own business, or are not currently working, you can still contribute to the campaign by becoming a Rights at Work Supporter.

All you have to do is commit to an ongoing donation of whatever amount you can afford: become a Rights at Work Supporter now.

At work, unions give working people a voice. They do this by assisting them to gain better pay, improved living standards, safe working environments and employment security, through collective bargaining and strength in the workplace.
